Randy Moss is on the road to recovery.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer and beloved sports commentator made a virtual appearance at Thursday’s NFL Honors, where he presented the award for Comeback Player of the Year.
“Good evening, everybody. How y’all doing? It is great to talk to you tonight,” Moss said in his first major public appearance since announcing his cancer diagnosis last December. “I’m sorry I could not be there in person, but I want to send a special thank you to all of my doctors, my beautiful wife, my children, my family, my teammates, and all the prayer warriors out there.
“We are Mossing cancer, and I cannot wait to get back on television with all my guys.”
Moss went on to present the Comeback Player of the Year award to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
“I am thrilled to present an award that I was honored to win myself back in 2007 with the New England Patriots,” Moss said. “There’s no better story in the National Football League than one about a player who does big things, overcomes adversity, faces obstacles, and ultimately finds their way back to the mountaintop.”
Moss’s own career has been a testament to resilience since being drafted into the NFL in 1998. Over the years, he played as a wide receiver for multiple teams, including the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, and most notably, the Minnesota Vikings, the team with which he is most commonly associated.

Randy Moss Reflects on Cancer Battle: ‘Your Boy Is a Survivor’
Fans first suspected something was wrong when Randy Moss unexpectedly stepped away from co-hosting ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown on Dec. 6. A week later, he confirmed the speculation, revealing his diagnosis during an Instagram Live session—calling himself a “cancer survivor.”
“Your boy is a cancer survivor. Been in the hospital for six days. I just got out today, thank God,” Moss shared. “First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for really just blessing me and my family through this trying time, and for allowing me to come out of this surgery and fight and battle this cancer.”
Moss explained that doctors discovered cancer in his bile duct, located between the pancreas and liver. “The cancer was sitting right outside the bile duct, so my doctors… went in,” he said. “I had a six-hour surgery.”
The most recent update on Moss came from Brittany Tolliferreo, the chef and business partner with whom he recently opened a fried chicken restaurant in Miami.
Tolliferreo shared that Moss remains in great spirits despite his health battle. “He won’t stop, and he wants everything to be successful and continue to grow,” she said.
